Where did it all start?

My teacher and mentor, Claire Arnott, first introduced me to meditation when I was 17. New to the practice and apprehensive of my ability to sit still in silence for any length of time, surprisingly, meditation defied all of my preconceptions. Since then, it has become part of my daily practice and the lessons it has taught and continues to teach me are infinite.

In some of my darkest times, engulfed by depression, anxiety and overwhelming fear of losing control, alongside my yoga practice meditation became my best friend, a comforting soul mate. The more I integrated the practice into my daily routine, the less dependent I became on unhealthy, self-destructive behaviours. At the time, I was still living a far from balanced life, but for the better part of 3 years, I thought this was “normal.” But barely surviving and living in an obsessive, control driven world that seemed to leech the little energy I had left out of my body - wasn’t normal.

I needed to make drastic changes and free myself from this grip. Through my tears, I decided that the answer -  the way I would save myself from the mess I was in - was to start building myself back up, starting from within. So, I begun with a simple 10 minutes of daily meditation, 5 minutes first thing in the morning and 5 minutes just before bed. I started to shift my focus internally, to reconnecting my mind to my body and further added in energy and breath work. All the while looking for a specific program that would use these techniques to help me repair my relationship with myself and my body.

That’s when I was introduced to Dylan Ayaloo, Theta Healer and leading UK yoga teacher trainer. After working with Dylan and his amazing team over a handful of life-transforming programs, the grip of anxiety and depression began to release while I began to live again. My meditation practice has grown and my knowledge has deepened. And finally, after many years of self-deception and self-hate, I now find myself reclaiming my freedom, my mind and my life.

Though I do not wish to relive to my lowest points, I can now look back and lovingly say that I have come out of the experiences stronger, happier and more confident than I have ever been before. And what’s more, I have emerged with the knowledge that healing past hurt, trauma, and turbulance can be healed through reprogramming our mind, unlearning the way we have been taught to struggle and knowing that we do not need fixing - because we are not really broken.

How has meditation changed my life?

My meditation practice has been more insightful than any doctor, counselor, therapist and psychologist I have ever seen - and I’ve seen a fair few. It has helped me reconnect with myself and realise the importance and of my life and worthiness of my own happiness. It has encouraged me to face my fears and struggles head-on, with no escape route other than the one I learnt to pave. It has made me realise how fragile and precious life is and that there’s no time like the present to chase your dreams. It has reminded me to slow down and breathe. And that taking stock of my life as it is now is the best way to take massive action on my dreams moving forward. Past experiences and unwanted, destructive thought and behaviour patterns still show up, but when they do, I immediately recognize them, become aware of their effect on my body and how they play out in all areas of my life, and consciously relax my nervous system. I feel more in control, and control is a big thing for me.

Breaking free from depression, anxiety or self-destructive behaviours, finding your steady, powerful inner-confidence and opening up to the deepest form of love for your body can only come from within.

This is what I have gained from meditation, and this is just the tip of the ice-berg.

So now, it’s time for me to teach and share this …

I continue to share this practice with my family and students, helping others reclaim their sense of self, reconnect to their power, boost their confidence and learn to fall in love with their bodies. I am drawn to helping others leave behind past hurt, trauma and self-diminishing beliefs and step into their true power.

It is my hope that you, too, can find this truth within yourself and allow it to transform your life as well. I would love the opportunity to work with you.
